Entra ID MFA Guide (new Feb 2025)

Dear User,

on 26 February 2025, FIFA IT has changed the multi-factor authentication (MFA) method for this application. PingID has been replaced by Microsoft Authenticator as the default mobile app being used.

If you login from this day onwards, you'll be asked by the system to complete the following steps, described below.

This procedure is compulsory and must be done only by yourself. Please follow the below instructions. In case you may face an issue, please get in touch with archivesinfo@fifa.org

Steps to change your multifactor authentication setup (option 1)

  1. Log into FIFA Archives

  2. The system shows the following info, click "Next"


  3. This next screen shows three different options on how to proceed. The recommended way is to use Microsoft Authenticator App (option 1).
    Option 2: "I want to use a different authenticator app" for users preferring another authenticator
    Option 3: "I want to set up a different method" for users who want to use text messages or phone calls instead (not recommended, less secure)

    We'll proceed with Microsoft Authenticator (option 1). The other two options are described further below.

    Download and install the app, open the app. Follow the steps.
    Then click "Next" on the screen below.


  4. Click "Next"


  5. In Microsoft Authenticator App, tap "add account" (+), choose "other account" and scan the QR code on screen.
    Then click "Next" on screen below.


  6. The modal window shows a two-digit number. Enter this number in Microsoft Authenticator App. Then click "Next" in screen below.


  7. Confirmation approval. Click "Next".


  8. Congratulations! You've finished the new MFA enrolment.

 

 

Steps to change your multifactor authentication setup (option 2)

If you want to use a different authenticator app, follow these steps:

  1. Click on "I want to use a different authenticator".


  2. Open your preferred authenticator app and scan the QR code.
    Optional: if you're using a password vault, it might be reasonable to save the Secret key inside. This way you can re-use it in case of necessary mobile phone exchange or activating a second device. Make the Secret key visible by clicking on "Can't scan Image?"
    Click "Next" on screen.



  3. In Authenticator app, look up the generated code or create a new code. Enter this code into field below. Click "Next".


  4. Congratulations! You've finished the new MFA enrolment.

 

Steps to change your multifactor authentication setup (option 3)

If you want to use text messages or phone calls as a second factor, follow these steps:

  1. Click "I want to set up a different method".


  2. Select "Phone" method and click "Next".


  3. Enter your mobile phone number. Click "Next".


  4. Enter 6 digit code received. Click "Next".


  5.  Congratulations! You've finished the new MFA enrolment.
